The Rowan Center for Behavioral Medicine is seeking a licensed psychologist to join our bustling private practice in Burbank, CA as a part-time independent contractor. Our ideal candidate is open, authentic, and excited about learning both personally and professionally. We place a strong emphasis on collaboration between clinicians, patients, and providers in the community. This is an independent contractor/1099 position that is ideal for individuals who would like some flexibility while building your practice and for a clinician who lives locally so that you can easily commute to and from the office as needed.

We specialize in health and rehabilitation psychology, providing assistance to patients with medical illnesses and disabilities ranging from cancer, neurological conditions, chronic pain, and other various general medical conditions. In addition, our clinicians provide state-of-the-art therapy for common concerns such as depression, anxiety, stress-management, relationship problems, and phase-of-life issues. As the only behavioral medicine center in Burbank, CA, we have developed a strong network of collaborators including St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Disney Cancer Center, City of Hope, USC Keck Medical Center, and the UCLA Movement Disorder Care Program.

In addition, we offer many opportunities to build your network through presentations at collaborating hospitals, blogging for expert psychology sites, publication and editorial opportunities, as well as building a media presence through radio and television appearances.

Our practice provides office space with a conference room and call light system, referrals, access to an electronic health record system, business cards, representation on our website, training/consultation, and marketing. We currently have a wonderful team of eight warm, open, and insightful therapists and hope to continue to grow!

We are looking to recruit professionals with a strong interest in health and rehabilitation psychology. This position requires a minimum of 15 face-to-face hours with preference given to candidates who would like to build up to working 20-25 hours per week.

Practice opportunities include individual, family, and couples psychotherapy, with a focus on both general and rehab/health psychology, as well as disability evaluations and neuropsychological and psychological testing.


  • Must be licensed and in good standing in California.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Must have completed a Ph.D. or Psy.D. program in clinical or counseling psychology at an APA-accredited graduate program.

  • Must have completed an APA or CPA-accredited internship.

  • Must be easily accessible via email, phone, and text. All voicemails, texts, and emails should be returned the same day when possible and no later than 24 hours after the contact.

  • Must be flexible and open to feedback and learning.

  • Should be interested in and experienced with clinical assessment and treatment of both general and medical populations.

  • Should have the desire to work in a collaborative team environment and should have experience in working collaboratively with physicians and other providers in the community.
